Update on my father in law's surgery

Ok, he is out of surgery and let start off by saying praise God. Now, it's going to sound as if it's bad news but it's actually not, it starts out bad but looks good. The tumor was back, and it was bigger than the doc thought. Come to find out tho, it's rectal cancer he has, not colon, it had just moved into his colon. So they removed another part of his colon, and had to put in a colostamy bag. Now, since the tumor was bigger than expected and it was lower, the could not remove it. He said the place it's at is too dangerous to try and remove and he can't even get it all if he did try BUT the good news is that it has NOT spread to other organs like the liver or his lymphnods AND the doctor believes with chemo and radiation that it will shink if not completely get rid of the tumor. He doesn't believe it will get all the cancer (unless God decides to) but he does feel that it's going to work wonders and that he is going to be around a long time. So we are all very relieved that even tho it started out as bad...it's actually not. Obviously he's in a lot of pain so they are keeping him in ICU with a spinal block for a few days, then will move him to his own room. Total about 7-10 days in the hospital then they will start treatment in about 3 weeks. Give him some time to heal from the surgery. But again, the doctor was VERY optimistic and really feels this will get him back on his feet and back to normal. So we just really praise God that He took such good care of him and his dad had already commented previously he didn't care about a colostamy bag if that's what it took to feel better. So looks like he's going to be fine so thank you all so much for all the prayer! Now lets just keep praying God uses this new treatment to get rid of the cancer and not make him too sick. Doctor said most people (guess cause of the type they are giving him) don't get sick from the treatment, they are just tired. So thanks again.
